Alaska’s amazing, abundant wildlife is one of our most unique features, and seeing bears, moose, eagles, whales, seals and more may well be the highlight of your vacation, especially if you are traveling with kids.
Of course, these creatures have their own schedules and routines, so you’re never guaranteed to see a specific animal, but with our experienced guides and captains, you will see many different species during your stay with us. A few tips to maximize your wildlife viewing:
- Dawn and dusk are the best times to see most wildlife, so be particularly alert during these times.
- Move slowly and quietly: most creatures will hear or smell you before you see them, but if you stay still, they may return.
- The only exception is bears—then you want to make noise when you are out and about, especially if there has been a recent sigting.
- Bring a 200mm lens or longer for the best chance at high-quality wildlife photography.
- Take advantage of our guided wildlife-viewing outtings.
- Listen to your guide, who will educate you on the proper wildlife-viewing etiquette for each sighting
