Nanny & Housekeeper

Nanny & Housekeeper

This responsible, fit person loves spending time playing outside as caregiver for our manager's two daughters who are 3 & 10. She is the primary housekeeper and caretaker for the manager's cabin and also provides periodic childcare for other on-call staff. This is the perfect role for an adventurous empty-nester with all the skills to run a household, or an energetic early-childhood professional with a natural ability to clean-as-you-go.

"Play is the work of childhood."  - Jean Piaget

Nanny duties include daily walks, educational activities, reading, art projects, healthy meal planning and preparation, cleaning up after the kids, dishwashing and kids laundry, helping care for our flock of laying hens, watering and weeding the small yard garden, organizing and supervising play dates with other children, and having lots of fun out and about interacting with the Halibut Cove community. Graceful multitasking and a natural eye for cleaning are required. Nanny needs to be active and healthy for this rustic environment, and able to safely paddle a double kayak and drive a motorboat. A working smartphone with cellular service is required.

Although each staff member specializes in a specific job, you will be required to keep up with ongoing staff quarters chores, and may be periodically asked to assist with our lodge kids program, lodge gardens and groundskeeping. This requires the ability to prioritize daily duties with flexibility and readiness to transition between jobs. Read more about the lodge kids program here.

Do you have other skills or interests as well? Certified yoga teachers and/or group fitness instructors can extend their hours at the lodge. Live alongside the other staff members and enjoy a balance of working with children and serving guests at the lodge.
