Head Housekeeper & Massage

Head Housekeeper & Massage

This position is ideal for a highly motivated individual with strong organizational and communication skills and a cell phone.

With impeccable attention to detail, our housekeepers are responsible for insuring a clean and uniformly tidy environment for the Stillpoint community. The housekeeping staff works together to maintain Stillpoint’s accommodations including the lodge, restrooms, dining room, guest cabins, boats, common areas, laundry and all facilities. The Head Housekeeper is responsible for overseeing the other housekeepers in accordance with our procedures and the highest of standards, including final walk-throughs and notated feedback. Often, he or she is bound to a tight schedule, so multitasking and efficiency is essential.

The Head Housekeeper arrives during pre-season and works independently in communication with the manager to help set up the lodge, maintain the greenhouses, stock the pantries and prepare the staff quarters for the season. Pre-season also includes grounds keeping, housekeeping, cleaning, maintenance, shopping and hauling.

Stillpoint massage therapists provide an integral contribution to the health and wellness of our guests and community.  As part of our overall guest services, massage therapists work primarily in housekeeping. Although massage is included for our guests, it typically only comprises a quarter of total hours worked. Our newly constructed massage building has two clean, peaceful therapy spaces to provide personalized treatments. A tidy, professional appearance is essential.

Dining Service:
Breakfast and lunch are served as a buffet and dinner is a 3-4 course fixed menu. Meal service is more like a banquet than waiting tables, but experience with restaurant atmosphere is a plus. Current ServSafe food handler is required for Alaska.

Although each staff member specializes in a specific job, at times you will be asked to assist with gardening, grounds keeping,  kitchen duties including serving and dishwashing and ongoing camp chores. This requires the ability to prioritize daily duties with flexibility and readiness to transition between jobs.

A working smartphone with cellular service is required.

As well as an array of benefits, this person also receives:

  • A generous monthly salary
  • Private room and board in our staff quarters
  • A share of guest gratuities
  • Staff members who remain committed to Stillpoint for the duration of the season and complete all job requirements will receive a bonus at the end of the season.

May 1 - September 26 (depending on bookings)
We welcome staff members who can stay fully focused on the Stillpoint community for their entire contract. We ask you commit to a flexible schedule in compliance with the State of Alaska's wage and hour requirements to include a 12 hour workday. We do not provide vacation, severance or sick pay, retirement benefits nor health insurance beyond workers compensation.
