OPERATIONS MANAGER

 

Stillpoint is seeking an experienced operations manager to oversee daily lodge activities. As an ideal candidate, you’ll have proven success managing multiple departments toward efficient, first class hospitality. You’ll be highly skilled in human resources, food and beverage management, complicated logistics, and technology. You will also work closely with our guiding, housekeeping, and culinary teams, overseeing back of house and front of house operations. Everything is interconnected.

Our operations manager is responsible for training, overseeing, scheduling, and organizing daily operations for a staff of 18 people and communicating directly with guests in house. This position requires strong leadership experience preferably in Alaska or in a remote and/or marine environment. Stillpoint is known for our high level of detail oriented customer service. Our special guest experience relies on the efficiency of our organizational processes and the proven ability to develop and maintain an environment of trust, positivity, and clear communication. Most important is a desire to be a part of a team, a desire to serve, and an enthusiasm and energy about the role.

Objectives of this Role

  • Be an expert on Stillpoint Lodge and Kachemak Bay
  • Recruit, hire, and maintain a talented team of employees
  • Maintain communication with management, staff, and vendors to ensure quality operations
  • Grow the efficiency of existing organizational processes and procedures
  • Ensure operational activities remain on time and within a defined budget

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and support a large team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment
  • Manage timely operations while delivering excellent customer service
  • Work closely with each departments to ensure all legal and safety standards are met
  • Oversee inventory management and purchasing

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations management, business administration, or related field
  • 2+ years’ proven experience in an operations management position
  • Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of operations and customer service
  • Expert level organizational skills, critical thinking, and fast decision making
  • Highly trained in conflict management, mediation, and resolution
  • Knowledge of general business software and aptitude to learn new applications; proficiency in Microsoft Office and GoogleDocs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with all inclusive lodging, high end hospitality, and Southcentral Alaska
  • Working knowledge of management software programs including CRM and QuickBooks
  • Strong IT skills, including spreadsheet development and reporting
  • Multiple years of fine dining, farm to table cuisine, and wine knowledge

REQUIREMENTS

  • A working smartphone with cellular service
  • Computer and wi-fi for remote pre-season work

 

COMPENSATION

  • Monthly salary
  • Room and board in our shared staff quarters
  • Employees who remain committed to Stillpoint for the duration of their contract and complete all job requirements will qualify for a bonus at the end of the season.

 

 

 

 

SCHEDULE

January - April (remote) and May - September (onsite)
We welcome staff members who can stay fully focused on the Stillpoint community for their entire contract. We do not provide holidays, vacation, severance or sick pay, retirement benefits nor health insurance beyond workers compensation.
