Dishwasher & Kitchen Assistant

Dishwasher & Kitchen Assistant

This strong, hardworking individual enjoys the physical work of washing dishes all day, and appreciates learning from our chefs while assisting with routine meal prep and completing checklists of detail oriented cleaning.

The kitchen assistant also packs boxed lunches for day trips and helps prepare food for the staff as well. Culinary knowledge and familiarity with healthy cuisine, gluten-free, vegetarian and other special diets is essential.

Our state-of-the-art, non-toxic dishwashing station makes this crucial job quite enjoyable. A job well done includes consistently maintaining a clean work station, responding to the needs of the chef, bartender and other kitchen staff, detail-oriented washing and cleaning, mindfully caring for locally handmade serving pieces, quickly mastering our meticulous organizational system, and beautifully polishing flatware and glasses. Frequent lifting and working quietly is required, as well as maintaining our recycling, compost and refuse systems.
Although each staff member specializes in a specific job, you may be asked to assist with bartending, busing, grounds keeping, landscaping, maintenance, portering, luggage, housekeeping, other kitchen duties and ongoing camp chores. This requires the ability to prioritize daily duties with flexibility and readiness to transition between jobs.

A working smartphone with cellular service is required. Current ServSafe food handler certificate is required for Alaska.
