Preparing For Your Alaska All-Inclusive Vacation

August 30, 2019

So you booked your Alaska all-inclusive vacation and are gearing up to go, making sure you are prepared for your vacation will help you to get the most out of your visit to Alaska. All-inclusive vacations are a great option for your visit to Alaska. They give you a lot less to worry about and a lot more opportunities to enjoy this beautiful place.

When you booked your travel will play an important role in what you need to do to get ready for your trip ( like what to pack). The height of the Alaskan travel season is between May and September, in 2006 over 1.6 million vacationers visited. Most people choose these months because the weather is “warmer” at least by Alaskan standards.

One of the most important things you can do to ensure you get the most out of your all-inclusive vacation is to pack right. We will talk about what to pack and what you can expect during your stay in Alaska!

The Region Determines the Weather

For the most part, much of Alaska will experience temperature ranges between 52 and 62 degrees during the May-September travel season, although the more northern regions never quite get that high in temperature.

If you are coming from a warmer climate 52 can feel very chilly so it is strongly suggested that you bring winter type clothes with you like sweaters, long pants, and lightweight hats. You may never wear them but it is always best to be prepared.

In most cases, packing, sweaters, and a light jacket are sufficient. Alaskan weather is known to change pretty quickly so keep up on the latest forecast for the region you will be visiting just to stay on top of things and better prepare for your trip.

Here are some things you should have in your suitcase:

  • Hiking boots and socks if you plan on hiking
  • Sunglasses and lightweight clothing in case it warms up while your visiting, a swimsuit in case your lodge has a hot tub
  • Casual is the way to go in Alaska! Bring clothing that you can layer, comfortable shoes, waders if you plan on fly fishing.

If you booked your vacation at a luxury lodge, fishing rods and the like will be provided for you at your vacation resort so you won’t have to pack that type of gear. Don’t forget your passport if you are coming from outside the US. Binoculars are also great to bring along to view the abundant wildlife.

Be Sure You Have Your Medications

If you take any medication regularly be sure that you pack it. You do not want to be stuck on your holiday trying to find a pharmacy to refill your prescriptions. If you are traveling with children be sure that you have enough diapers, formula, and goods that they need to be packed as well.

Prepare For the Time of Your Life!

Come ready to experience a natural wonderland. This will be the vacation of a lifetime. Preparing for your Alaskan all-inclusive vacation by having everything you need will ensure that your focus is on the holiday and nothing else!
