November 20, 2019

Alaska is an ideal vacation destination for many folks in and out of the country. Add a luxury lodge to the mix, and you have set yourself for an unforgettable vacation experience in the country.

If you have settled on Alaska as your vacation spot, then first, congratulations on making the right decision. Next, there are a couple of things you might want to get acquainted with to make your vacation smooth and your travel as memorable as possible. Here are a few things you should know before going to Alaska for your vacation.

Things to Know Before Taking Your Alaskan Vacation

Alaska can be an entirely different environment from the one most people are accustomed to. It is, therefore, important to be well prepared for the journey and stay in Alaska so that you make the best of your Alaska vacation. Here are a couple of things you should be familiar with before going on Vacation in Alaska.

1. What’s the Weather Like There?

Alaska is prevalently dry all year round. As such, since most folks are used to a humid climate, it is important to have a few items at hand during your vacation. You should never forget to carry body lotion or any moisturizer. Skin tends to dry out pretty quickly in Alaska. Some chapstick to prevent your lips from chapping is also a good idea. So before you set off, remember to prepare sufficiently for the dry climate there.

2. Wild Animals are Common

You don’t have to worry about wild animals invading your premises if you set camp in a luxury lodge. But these beauties of nature are quite a sight to behold in their natural habitat since about 52% of Alaska is wilderness. Occasionally stumbling on a moose or an otter is quite a common occurrence in Alaska. Apart from them, whales are also an attraction in Alaska and the ever foraging bear, but don’t worry; you are very safe inside your car. Just take caution while driving and viewing these creatures to avoid any collision with other cars, which leads to the next point.

3. Gas Stations are Not as Common

Many city dwellers are often surprised as to how few gas stations there are outside of cities, Alaska is no exception. Alaska does have gas stations but not as many as your usual town or city. It’s always best to fill your tank adequately before setting out on your trip.

Luckily if you choose to stay in a luxury lodge or Alaska resort, there is a high probability the establishment is close to a gas station. So to be very safe, opt to have your stay in a luxury lodge or an Alaska resort, and you won’t have to worry about your gas running out.

4. Don’t be Alarmed in Case of Earthquakes

Earthquakes in Alaska are quite common because most of Alaska is along fault lines. The earthquakes, however, should not be a cause of alarm because they are minor tremors and have no significant impact on the daily running of activities. So if you feel the ground shake slightly, you should not panic. It is most likely only a tiny tremor that will pass within a short time. Most buildings have been engineered to withstand these minor tremors, so you are very safe within the rooms of your luxury lodge or anywhere you choose to set camp.

5. Your Vacation Will Be Amazing

Brace yourself for an incredibly exciting experience in Alaska. Alaska has plenty to offer, and if you aren’t caught up with gazing at the ice glaciers, you could always have a nature vacation in the vast and thriving Alaskan ecosystem.

To have a pleasurable experience you should consider staying in an all-inclusive resort in Alaska. These few things are what you need to know before going to Alaska for your vacation.
