When Is The Best Time To Take A Vacation?

August 09, 2018

Vacations are crucial when it comes to your health and happiness. Not only have vacations proven to boost work productivity, but they also reduce stress and lower blood pressure.

But now that you don't have a designated summer break like you used to when you were a kid, when is it really the best time to go on vacation?

When is it the best time to vacation in Alaska?

In 2006 alone, more than 1.6 million visitors vacationed in Alaska between May and September. A decade later, Alaska welcomed more than 1.8 million visitors in that same time frame, the highest visitor volume on record.

There's a reason why visitors choose to vacation in Alaska between May and September. Alaska is known for its chilly weather, especially during the winter when temperatures can drop below -50 degrees Fahrenheit.

But Alaska has surprisingly mild summers. The state has even seen temperatures as high as 90 degrees Fahrenheit. With the state's 75 parks and incredible nature, Alaska is best experienced during the summer months.

Still, if you're not afraid of the nippier weather, Alaska can be just as incredible to experience all year round. In fact, up to 11% of Alaska's visitors in 2016 came to fish, and silver salmon are still in season all through November.

How do I know it's time to vacation?

It can be fun to take a vacation when your dream destination is at its prime. But it's also a good idea to take a vacation when you need it most.

So now that you know when the best time is to visit Alaska, here are three signs when you know it's the best time for you to go on vacation:

  • You're not as productive. Vacations can make you feel inspired and see things from new perspectives.

  • You've been pulling late nights. Slow productivity and stress have been working you to the bone and it's time for a well-needed break.

  • You've been showing signs of stress. It's definitely time to vacation if your stress has started to manifest itself physically in the form of fatigue, nausea, and anxiety.
